Darth Vader - Anakin Skywalker - Dark Lord of the SithDarth Vader - Anakin Skywalker - Dark Lord of the Sith The journey of the powerful Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader, begins the tale as a simple yet talented slave boy. Anakin's mother, Shmi Skywalker, knew that the boy was meant for great things. His miraculous conception without a father surely was the start of her realization that something was very different about this child. To this day the actual source of his conception is left for rumor and imagination as the story teller, George Lucas, has never revealed the story. This boy's journey into the mastery over the force would begin with Jedi knight Qui-Gon Jinn. Qui-Gon could see from a young age that young Anakin had incredible untapped skill of the force. What he would observe of the boy would lead him to believe that this was surely the prophesied one who would bring balance to the force. At his death Qui-Gon, who would not train Anakin, got the word of soon to be Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi that he would train him. And so it would be. Anakin's emotional attachments would eventually lead him to become Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith. It was his belief that the dark side presented him advantages that the good side of the force could not. In actuality it was his path down the dark side that lead him to lose those he loved. Darth Vader would join the evil empire under the tutelage of the dark Emperor Palpatine. He would lead a great military campaign against the Jedi. Leading a genocide to destroy any future opposition. After successfully wiping out most of the Jedi and force sensitive population Darth Vader would subdue the entire galaxy and battle with rebel forces. His undoing as Darth Vader would eventually come from the family attachments (Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa) he always desired to keep safe. His son, Luke Skywalker, would successfully lead him to turn on the Emperor and come to the realization that the good side of the force was the true path to take. He was introduced in the films Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (1983) as the Emperor, an aged, cowled, and pale-faced figure who walks with a cane. Palpatine appears in the prequel trilogy as a middle-aged politician in the Galactic Republic who rises to power through deception and treachery. The character is featured in the animated miniseries Star Wars: Clone Wars (2003–2005) and in Star Wars literature. Scottish actor Ian McDiarmid portrays the character in the Star Wars feature films. Palpatine is a major antagonist in Star Wars fiction. Born on the planet Naboo 82 years before the events of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977) he is a key politician in the Republic who claims to represent peace and democracy. In reality, Palpatine is Darth Sidious, a powerful lord of the evil Sith sect who practices the dark side of the Force. He initiates and manipulates the Clone Wars to destroy the Jedi and usher in the totalitarian Galactic Empire. Palpatine's Sith apprentices include Darth Maul, Count Dooku, and Darth Vader. George Lucas's original scripts of Star Wars characterize Palpatine as a cunning but weak politician under the control of powerful bureaucrats. However, in Return of the Jedi, the prequels, and Star Wars literature, the character is depicted as the personification of evil and heavy-handed authoritarianism. Palpatine was incorporated into the Star Wars merchandising campaigns that corresponded with the theatrical release of Return of the Jedi and the prequel films. He has since become a symbol of evil and sinister deception in popular culture, particularly in the United States. Source: Wikipedia.org -- Visit Wikipedia for more info on Darth Sidious. Darth Maul - Sith Known For Double Bladed LightsaberDarth Maul - Sith Known For Double Bladed Lightsaber The Starwars universe would be introduced to one of the coolest bad guys in Starwars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. Under the Emperor Palpatine’s influence, Darth Maul would look to faithfully serve the interests of his evil Sith Master. Maul is also known for his appearance. His devilish red skin tone and horns protruding from his head are native to the Iridonian Zabrak race. The sith character who appeared only in Episode 1 in the Starwars movies was played by actor Ray Parks. Ray Parks is also known for his other acting parts including his role in X-Men. His martial arts background made Parks perfect for the role of the fierce and acrobatical Darth Maul. The short dialog heard from his character was voiced by Peter Serafinowicz. Also appearing for the first time on the big screen in Episode 1 is the double bladed lightsaber that Darth Maul used. This is probably the most intimidating element to the character. Its duel usage included the ability to go into staff mode or single blade mode. This dangerous weapon made the Sith extremely dangerous and versatile to many forms of attacks. The one big gripe that I have along with many other fans of Starwars is that Darth Maul's role in the Starwars universe was short lived. I would have rather seen him evolve within the storyline of the films. Darth Maul in my honest opinion was a much better villain than Count Dooku. After episode 1 rumor had it that Darth Maul would end up being cloned. That idea was left in rumor and never materialized in the films. With that said Darth Maul remains one of the most remembered villains in the Starwars universe. You can add him to the long list of amazing characters to come from the series. In the prequel films, he is played by Christopher Lee, and is voiced by Corey Burton in the video games and the animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars. He is the arch-villain in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and a supporting villain in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Dooku was a Jedi Master and powerful Sith Lord. His Sith name is Darth Tyranus (tyrannus incidentally being the Latin word for "tyrant", from Greek tyrannos); his full birth name is unknown. As revealed in Attack of the Clones, Dooku was once the Padawan to Yoda, and the Master of Qui-Gon Jinn. He is one of the greatest Jedi in the galaxy, supremely gifted in his connection to and knowledge of the Force, as well as oratory, philosophy, and lightsaber combat. Jude Watson's novel Legacy of the Jedi explains that Dooku is first tempted by the dark side of the Force as a Padawan, when his best friend, fellow Jedi apprentice Lorian Nod, decides to learn the ways of the Sith. Dooku feels betrayed, but finds himself intrigued by the Sith Order's open embrace of power, and subconsciously realizes that he is just as capable of treachery as his former friend. Dooku's first canonical appearance in the Star Wars universe is in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. He is introduced as a once-esteemed Jedi Master who had become disillusioned with the Jedi and became the Sith apprentice of Darth Sidious. He is also the leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems, or the Separatists, a federation of planetary systems rebelling against the Galactic Republic. In 44 BBY, he leads the Jedi in combat against the Mandalorians. Almost all of the Mandalorians are killed, except for Jango Fett and several others spread throughout the galaxy. Over half of the attacking Jedi fall to the Mandalorian guns, with Fett killing many himself. After this battle, Dooku loses faith in the Republic, sensing corruption within it and in the Jedi by serving it. Dooku is angered by the bureaucracy of the Galactic Senate, as well as the unwillingness of the Jedi Council to aid oppressed Galactic systems. Qui-Gon's death at the hands of Sidious's former apprentice, Lord Maul, proves to be the final straw. As a result of his resignation, his bronzium bust is displayed in the Jedi Archives, along with the rest of the Lost Twenty, the only Jedi Knights ever to resign their commissions from the Jedi Order.
